Drums

Jeff Tortora, a Syracuse, New York native, began his career at age 5 in his parent’s basement.  As a small child he set up his own “custom” drum kit, fashioned from buckets, metal lunch boxes, and tar cans.  As his skill level increased he emerged from the basement to perform with the Syracuse Symphony at the age of 8 and in the all-county/state jazz and concert bands in high school. At the age of 21 he was performing with Joey Belladonna the multi-platinum singer from the band Anthrax and was simultaneously recording albums with Grammy nominated Berkeley professor and guitar virtuoso Joe Stump.

Jeff’s skill set  has allowed him to play in a myriad of bands ranging from disco to heavy metal performing not only as a drummer but as a writer and lead singer as well. In 1999 Jeff was approached by a casting agent from the Blue Man Group who was quite impressed with his performance as drummer/singer in his band The United Booty Foundation. Richard joined the Femmes of Rock a few years ago and has this to say, “Playing in this band is like a musical adventure for me, there’s so much great music we play. The arrangements really propel the show forward and the cast is top shelf, first rate awesomeness. This band rocks!”

Richard Belgard is also a performer & musician for the world-renown Blue Man Group. He plays electric zither, chapman stick, bass, guitar and talking drum. “I have played more shows with BMG than the Rolling Stones and the Beatles combined, something like 7,500 performances. It’s a crazy amount of shows, but it’s so much fun. Telepathic level connections.”

Richard is also a composer, sound designer and music producer. “I spend a lot of time composing for music libraries and creating underscore and sound design for the gaming industry.
